What This Module Trains 🎯
The Broken Left Turn, then the Funky Walk right after it.
The Move 🧠
Lesson 1. The turn.
- Broken Left Turn. It is kind of a half turn: you start exactly like a Left Turn on 8 and 1 2 3, then step your 4 and 5 towards your back instead of towards your left diagonal, and on 6 you face the front instead of going to the back and finish the turn on 6 and 7.
Lesson 2. The walk.
- Funky Walk. It is a specific Cha Cha Cha move that you do not really see in Salsa: instead of the Cha Cha Cha basic, which is step step triple step, you step 1 3 5 7, body turned towards your right diagonal, crossing on 1.
- Güiro. The Güiro is an instrument that you hear in Cha Cha music that goes 8 and 1, two and 3, four and 5, six and 7.
- Three variations, in order: shoulders, click, hips.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- Each move alone.
- The turn into the walk.
Technique Cues 💡
- Make the 6 sharp.
- The clap on 8 is optional.
- Mix it up.
💡 Drill it: Learn each alone, then join them.
🎯 Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
