What This Module Trains 🎯
The second step on the campana, with the shoulders, plus two variations with steps.
The Instrument 🥁
- Campana. The campana is much sharper, it's metallic, so using the shoulders in this sharp way is very good.
- Güiro. The güiro marks the same counts as the campana, but its sound is much smoother.
- Shoulder hits. Start with the right, king, king, pam, on 8 and 1.
- Double. Two shoulder drops.
- Counts. 8 and 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 7.
- Franklin Diaz Shimmy. The Franklin Diaz Shimmy is going to be 6 7 8 and 1.
- Flare. Your flare, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 7.
- Lateral shimmy. You step to the side, 1 3, step step step, just like a boogaloo basic. Rodrigo Cortázar popularized the step.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- Shoulders. 6 7 8 and 1.
- Franklin Diaz Shimmy. 5 6 7, Cha Cha 1.
- Lateral shimmy. 1 3, 5 6 7.
Technique Cues 💡
- Bring out the essence of the element.
- On 6 7 you have three options: leave your shoulders, do the double, or do two bounces.
- Repeat on the other side.
💡 Drill it: keep the shoulders sharp, like the bell.
