What This Module Trains 🎯
The rhythm, the basic step and the side step. Cha Cha Cha came from Cuba in 1953, from Enrique Jorrín.
The Move 🧠
Lesson 1. 2 3, 4 and 5, 6 7, 8 and 1.
- Basic step. The step is going to be your basic On2 basic step, so it is going to be your break On2.
- Triple step. Then I am going to do a triple step here, step, step, step, going on the ball of my foot, and that is on 4 and 5.
Lesson 2.
- Side step. Again, like in your Salsa, On2 is just going to be an open and close side step, and the only thing is that in the middle we are going to be adding the Cha Cha Cha syncopation.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- Hear the beat. Count 8 and 1, 4 and 5.
- Basic, side step, basic.
- Repeat breaking back.
Technique Cues 💡
- Fully change weight on every step.
- Hip opposite the leg, ribcage with it.
- Bend those knees and relax.
💡 Drill it: get the steps and the rhythm first, bend those knees, keep it small and do not rush the syncopation. The body movement comes after.
🎯 Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
