A Hybrid Of Two Moves You Know π
The Walkthrough sits exactly between the Cross Body Lead and the Enchufa.
I am doing a Cross Body Lead. She is doing an Enchufa.
That is the whole move. It is a very nice, very beautiful step and I recommend you do it a lot.
Lead: Steps and Technique πΊ
Start as if you were going into a Cross Body Lead, basic 6 7 1 2 3, then 6 7.
Instead of keeping the connection and bringing her round with you, you let her walk through.
- keep the connection on the left
- open the hand and go up with the left, and that is what creates the gap
- you raise the arm on 1, like a bridge for her to pass under, while you step off the line
- you lower the hand on 5, and that is what causes her rotation
It is the same principle as leading the Right Turn: create a space, then invite. You are not pushing her anywhere.
Follower: Steps and Technique π
He raises the arm on 1 to let you pass, and the hand also invites you to walk on 2, 3.
- keep your basic step
- hold your elbow in a soft position, arm supported rather than limp
- the rotation comes when he lowers the hand on 5
- carry on into the basic on 6, 7
π‘ Drill it: Run it in both directions. The gap and the invitation are the whole lead, so if it is not working, that is where to look.
π― Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
