What This Module Trains π―
Crosses on the chord beats, forward and back. Chord beats are the strong beats in the music: 1, 3, 5, 7.
The Moves π§
Lesson 1.
Chord Cross. Crosses forward on chord beats: cross to the front on 1, 3, 5 and 7, then just the basic.
- Left on 1, right on 3, left on 5, right on 7.
Lesson 2.
Back Chord Cross. The exact same concept, but you cross to the back, like a back step.
- Back on 1, knee up on 2, back on 3, knee up on 4, then 5 and 7.
- Step your 1 forward to get back into your basic.
How the Drill Runs π
- Chord Crosses to the front
- Back Chord Crosses
- Forward crosses straight into back crosses
Technique Cues π‘
- Keep your posture slightly open, around 30 degrees, so your hips have space to cross.
- Lift that knee up, stay upright and let your legs do the work.
- Don't look at your feet. Train to look in front of you.
π‘ Drill it: keep your legs slightly opened.
π― Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
