What This Module Trains 🎯

Three beginner variations of the Suzy Q.

The Moves 🧠

Lesson 1.

Cross Cross Suzy Q. A combination of our chord crosses and our Suzy Q: cross on 1 and 3, then a Suzy Q on 5 6 7.

  • You end up on the wrong leg: repeat it with the right.

Lesson 2.

In and Out Suzy Q. Cross on 1, step back on 2 just like a regular Suzy Q, then instead of crossing again you open, step your 4 and do another Suzy Q.

  • Styling: open your body and turn your palm up, like asking someone to dance.

Lesson 3.

Full Suzy Q. The same count as the In and Out Suzy Q, but you step your 4 and continue doing your Suzy Q on one line.

  • Traveling is fine.

How the Drill Runs 🔁

  1. Cross Cross Suzy Q
  2. In and Out Suzy Q, then with the arms
  3. Full Suzy Q, going down
  4. All three again, adding the shimmy

Technique Cues 💡

  • Always twice: left, then right.
  • Bend your knees.

💡 Drill it: first get the steps, then the arms.
