What This Module Trains 🎯
Four advanced, flashier Suzy Q variations.
The Moves 🧠
Lesson 1.
Flare Suzy Q. Suzy Q on 1, 2, 3, twist on 4 and, instead of the passé, flare to the side, tapping the floor with a straight leg.
Gancho Suzy Q. Gancho means hook: kick on 4 without twisting, twist on the and, bend that knee and kick your butt with your heel, then 5.
Lesson 2.
Syncopated Suzy Q. A Full Suzy Q, stepping on the and counts too: 1 and 2 and 3, 5 and 6 and 7.
- Arms on the and counts, like cradling a baby.
Lesson 3.
Charleston Suzy Q. A regular Suzy Q on your toes with the Charleston flick: twist out on 8, knees in, cross and twist in on 1.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- Flare Suzy Q
- Gancho Suzy Q
- Syncopated Suzy Q
- Charleston Suzy Q, then all four again
Technique Cues 💡
- Lean towards your leg and look down, like crushing a bug.
- Stay on your toes, keep it small.
💡 Drill it: the Charleston takes coordination, give yourself time.
🎯 Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
