What This Module Trains 🎯
A new step, the Palo Changa, danced with the Güiro. You learn it slowly, then in tempo.
The Instrument 🥁
- Güiro. Try to really interpret the Güiro.
- Palo Changa. The Palo Changa is a Cha Cha step. Usually you can use it in any dance really.
- The usual count. You step on 8 and you go 8 up down, and then you go 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7.
- Tempo. I'm going to teach it to you a brand new way, which is going to be tempo.
- The tempo count. 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- Basic step. Count in 5 6 7 and a 1, go.
- Now with the shoulder. Add the back roll. Again.
- Last time. Try to really interpret the Güiro.
Technique Cues 💡
- Break it down slowly first.
- On 1 step on your toe, on and come up on both toes, then come down.
- As you do this, do a back roll in your shoulders.
💡 Drill it: go slowly first, then add the shoulders.
