What This Module Trains 🎯
Apache. The Apache is one of the coolest moves from Cha Cha Cha and Boogaloo and Pachanga, but also one of the hardest ones.
The Move 🧠
- From the basic, 8 and 1, up with the knee, cross on 2, up again.
- Back on and 5 and 6. Broken Left Turn. Half a left, half a right.
- Pachanga skips. We did something similar in the Pachanga course with the Pachanga skips: I step, I am down, I bend my knee, and when I go up, instead of just lifting up, I jump slightly back and straighten that leg. The Apache is a faster version of that, changing more and travelling more in space.
- Hands open and close every two counts.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- I count you in over the music.
- Angles. We change on the 2 and the 5.
- Last one, then practice.
Technique Cues 💡
- Lean forward. Try not to stay up like that.
- Jump back, not just up.
- Give it time. Months of daily practice.
💡 Drill it: Footwork first, then the skip, then the hands.
🎯 Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
