What This Module Trains 🎯
In Cha Cha Cha the Suzy Q sits on the syncopation and comes faster.
The Move 🧠
Lesson 1. The step.
- Suzy Q. A Suzy Q is just going to be a cross here: I cross here with my right leg, then I open a little bit here with my left, and I cross again with my right.
- It goes 5 6 7, 8 and 1, five times.
- The up and down variation. We are just going to be going up and down here with the torso.
Lesson 2. The crosses.
- Two Suzy Q's, four crosses on 4, 5 6 7.
- One more Suzy Q back into basic.
How the Drill Runs 🔁
- Five basic Suzy Q's, then down and up.
- Two Suzy Q's, four crosses.
Technique Cues 💡
- Bend those knees.
- Stay on your toes on that back leg.
- Hips on your left diagonal, not the front.
💡 Drill it: Make sure you practise here your crosses and your twist, and remember: stay on your toes, keep your weight a little bit forward, and twist those hips.
🎯 Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
