🥁 Bodymovement 2, The Changüí Bounce
The bounce in this module comes from the African roots that shaped Changüí and Son Cubano, the dances that gave birth to Salsa. Real heritage under every rep.
📉 Down–Up–Down–Suspension
The core mechanic across each three-count phrase (1 2 3 and 5 6 7):
- 1 / 5, drop
- 2 / 6, rise
- 3 / 7, drop again
- 4 / 8, suspension on the held count
Drill it side-to-side first. Then layer it onto your forward-and-back basic. 🎯
🙆 Shoulders and Head Come Along
As you bounce, shoulders naturally lift and come slightly forward on the odd beats. Your head rises with them on 1, 3, 5, 7.
Don't force it. It flows out of the bounce itself.
📐 Angles Complete the Picture
- 1 2 3, torso angles toward the right diagonal
- 5 6 7, torso angles toward the left diagonal
Think of it as presenting yourself, generous, open, confident.
🔓 What It Unlocks
Once the Changüí Bounce lives in your body, layer it onto Swing Steps and Afro-inspired footwork. Everything starts looking more professional.
Commit to small daily reps, a few with your morning coffee goes a long way.
🧠 Down-up-down, then angle. Repeat until your body owns it.
🥁 Chachalokafun
Chachalokafun is a generic Afro-Cuban rhythm that can be danced by all the Orishas, the Afro-Cuban gods and spirits.
