What This Module Trains 🎯

Cha Cha Cha footwork is intricate, and this Pattern asks for solid basics first.

The Move 🧠

Cross syncopation. This is a step that you see a lot across all Caribbean dances, and it is just going to be a front with a slight cross, back and back.

  • Count it 5 6 7, then cross on 8 and 1.
  • Same to the left, 2 and 3, then 4 and 5.

Star Pattern. This is a syncopation I break down in Mambo 201, and here we are just going to be doing that but a little bit faster because it is Cha Cha Cha.

  • 4, back and 5, forward and 6, and 7, and 8, then 1 2 3.

How the Drill Runs πŸ”

  1. Full Pattern on music.
  2. Again, staying on your toes.
  3. Three more runs.

Technique Cues πŸ’‘

  • Stay on your toes. Flat footed it is very hard.
  • Bend those knees, quiet, like moving in the kitchen at night.
  • In heels, go up on the toes.

πŸ’‘ Drill it: Practice, practice, practice. It is just a matter of time.

🎯 Community

Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
