Cubop

Also called: latin jazz

Definition

The fusion of grounded Afro-Cuban percussion with the brass harmonies of American Bebop jazz, developed by Mario Bauza working with Machito's band alongside jazz musicians like Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Also called Latin Jazz, it was loud, fast, harmonically complex big-band music.
