Definition

The competitive ballroom industry born from British standardization, which took the terminology of Afro-Cuban dance and stripped out its African rhythmic essence. Codified by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and instructor Monsieur Pierre, it enforced upright posture, locked knees, and traveling circular patterns.
