Definition

The New York label founded in 1964 by Johnny Pacheco and Jerry Masucci that, modeling itself on Motown, rebranded the array of Afro-Cuban rhythms under the single marketing term "Salsa." It standardized song structures for radio and assembled the supergroup Fania All-Stars.
