Passing The Hand Across 🤹

A hand juggle is close to what you did getting out of the window position, except here you do it from a parallel hold.

Instead of going with the left, you go with your right across, and keep hold of the left. Then you take that hand from her right shoulder to her left shoulder.

That pass across the body is the juggle.

The Right Hand Juggle ➡️

Start from a Right Turn. You can use an axle right or a regular right, and the lesson practises the axle right.

  • 1 2 3, 5 6 7, 1 2 3
  • by 3 you are already prepared to go out to the side
  • on 5, cross with the right and keep the left
  • 5, 6, take it across to the other shoulder
  • 7, come back, and 1 back to the front

Then exit with a Left Turn: come back on 1, bring her forward on 2, and turn on 3.

The One Thing That Makes It Work 💪

Keep your elbow down so that the other hand can cross.

If the elbow lifts, there is nowhere for the crossing hand to go and the whole juggle jams. Everything else in this move is timing, but this one is geometry.

The Left Hand Juggle ⬅️

Exactly the same concept on the other side, from the axle Left Turn. You prepare on 3, open to the back and cross, go with the left, cross on 5, 6, step on 6, and come back to the front on 7.

On 1 you arrive in the cross position on the other side, and on 2 a basic Right Turn, two three, to unwrap.

Then Play With It 🎲

Once you are in that position, you have options. You can leave the hand where it is. You can drop the hand and go into a Hammerlock.

The possibilities are endless, and I invite you to play with all these variations. This is how you never ever run out of moves.

You can also Combo the left juggle straight onto the right one.

For The Followers 💃

While he is playing with the arms, you have room to add something. Two options with the hip:

  • a semicircle to the side, on the 6 7 into the 1
  • a Shimmy, small movements with the hip

Both follow the same rule:

The hip moves backwards, not forwards. Just to the side, to the right, then back, then close.

Back and relax, back and relax. Going forward and relaxing looks odd. For the Shimmy, prepare, bend your knees, work up and down, balance your weight and change your feet.

💡 Drill it: Practise the elbow position alone. Hand across, elbow low, no music. That is the whole move.
