Mamboniks

Also called: mambonik

Definition

The hardcore local dancers who danced directly in front of the Palladium bandstand, such as Cuban Pete, Millie Donay, and Killer Joe Piro. Their feet and movements drove the bands' solos, so the arrangement was effectively written in real time by the dancers.
