New York Style Mambo

Also called: new york mambo, new york style

Definition

The cross-cultural urban American dance invented by Palladium dancers who fused grounded Cuban movement with Harlem tap, Lindy Hop acrobatics, and theatricality. Its physical signature is a quiet, "cool," upright upper body placed over fast, heavily syncopated footwork.
