What This Module Trains π―
One groove, two versions: you step it, then you jump it.
The Move π§
Open and Close. You cross in the middle on 1 and open out on 2, so on the odd counts you are in the middle crossed and on the even counts you are out on a point of the X.
- Down on 1, up on 2.
X Jumps. It is the same thing as the open and close, but instead of stepping we are going to be jumping, jump, jump, jump, jump, and your body needs to be diagonal so you draw the lines of the X with it.
Single Single Double. A quick variation where you go the regular 2 3 4 5 and then do it two times here on the right diagonal, 6 7, then you repeat the move starting the other way and do it two times here to the left, 6 7 8.
How the Drill Runs π
- In and out.
- X Jumps.
- In and out.
- X Jumps with the double.
Technique Cues π‘
- Stay on your toes.
- Imagine that X on the floor.
- Odd counts, crossed in the middle.
π‘ Drill it: Very fun and groovy.
π― Community
Practice without judging yourself. Every dancer started exactly where you are. Be patient. This lands in the body over months, not days. Record yourself. You will see things you cannot feel. Post it in the community tab, or on Instagram tagging the page.
